Bed & Breakfast
Rooms with a view...
Ideally situated in Puylaroque, a hill-top medieval village in SW France and with wonderful views,"Les Chimères" offers a pleasant change from hotels due to Lisanne's artistic influence and helpful hospitality.
If 'en route', it's much more than a simple stopover and if on holiday, it's an ideal base from which to visit Cahors, Montauban, Albi and Toulouse, as well as the many delightful Bastide villages.
Oh, forgot to mention...winner of "4 in a bed in France"!
Entry for the rooms and gite
is by rue Béral, behind the house; you are independent
with your own keys and no time restrictions.
Street parking is available by the Mairie 100 yards away.
On arrival, you'll be directed to the rear entrance, where you can unload luggage before parking.
Breakfast is taken downstairs, reached via the 12th century
stone staircase that was the watchtower on the ramparts
during the hundred years’ war.
Homemade bread, brioche, yogurt, fruit compote, cakes, jams as well as locally produced honey and fresh fruit set you up for the day...
Both rooms have wineglasses & corkscrew and tea/coffee making facilities, and an electric blanket on the double bed in winter!
Each room has an iron and board, hairdryer, fan, dressing gowns, slippers, books, magazines
+ toiletries, madeleines & chocolates ...
Travel cot available on request.
Sorry, no animals in the rooms...2 dogs and 3 cats at Les Chimères!
THINGS TO DO
What a choice...
The village has shops including a baker, butcher, grocer, ironmonger, chemist and hairdresser,
(no candlestick maker sadly!) as well as a doctor, district nurse and library.
A café and 2 restaurants
ensure a pleasant pause!
There’s a lot to visit and explore locally whether you are sporty (horse riding, canoeing, swimming, hiking, fishing, mountain biking....), tuned into culture (visiting museums, Romanesque churches, Bastide villages, Albi....) or more leisurely, enjoying the local Quercy wines and food;
perhaps savouring your purchases from the colourful local markets.
And why not just relax in the garden !
"Booked on the day
Lisanne was a wonderful hostess.
Room fab and staying in December
it was a lovely touch to have an
electric blanket even though
the room was toasty.
An excellent place to stay."
