About me

I have travelled a bit...early years spent in Pakistan, then nursing in Malaysia and Zambia with VSO and finally I settled in SW France ...28 years ago!

I had two careers: nursing, then art school and teaching in London art schools, followed by teaching English in schools and universities here in France. Now retired from teaching and active in local associations.

Bilingual in French/English.

I first came to Puylaroque in 1981 when things were very different...local road signs still had fingers on the end! 2 CVs were abundant on the roads and life was led at a slower pace...when I went to a “loto” aka Bingo, you covered the numbers with maize kernels and the prizes were half a pig, a goose or a duck...hanging from a rack on the stage in the village hall! Now pluck your prize!! Times have changed, but life is slower here than in the fast lane...you can still, as I do, buy free range eggs laid by happy hens from an 85 year old friend and everyone is very conscious of the seasons: one does NOT buy tomatoes in winter! Having loved holidays here, moved permanently in 1992 and opened as B & B.
